IKEA 2017 catalogue launch event

Imagine: a rainy day in the middle of the summer, a cornfield, a hundred design enthusiasts and the excitement to finally see the new Ikea catalogue.

That's in short the amazing event that Ikea Netherland carefully put together to introduce the new products for 2017. Every time I attend an Ikea event, I'm always sure I'll be not disappointed! 

The new PS collection {available from march 2017} is the one that caught my eye: bold colors, functional design and a young approach. In my wish list I already have the yellow lamp {only 29 euros!} and the white cart.

And let's talk for a moment about the chair designed by the dutch duo Truly Truly..a comfy, big chair made out 18 pillows that you can build and change as you wish.

Following the same path of the past years, the attention is still focussed on cooking and eating together, living the kitchen as the heart of the house.

So, lots of attention is dedicated to the food that will be soon introduced in all the Ikea restaurants {we also tried the new salmon burger and it was delicious!}. The little compact Sunnersta kitchen is the perfect solution for a studio or if you have a very limited space.  

Collaborations with big designers is also something I'm very curious about. Yesterday we had the honor and the pleasure to meet the dutch designer {based in Eindhoven!} Piet Hein Eek. I'm a big fan of his work, so as a perfect "groupie" I asked him to have a picture together. The collection is called JASSA and it will be available in 2017. He chose the rattan as main material and he explained the creative process behind this cooperation, how he used traditional tecniques to create these pieces. The collaboration will continue in 2018 with another collection called INDUSTRIELL..can't wait! 

Another lovely limited collection that will be available soon is the Sällskap, that has been used yesterday to decorate the table and the tent that protected us from the rain. The table cloth with the little ink sposts remembered me the drawing I made last year during  the 2016 catalogue presentation. Well, another piece in my wish list!

Let me finish with a big thanks to Ikea Netherland for the great job they've done. Despite the weather I felt the warmth and the energy {and the heart} they put into this event. Unforgettable!

Immaginate: un giorno di pioggia nel bel mezzo dell'estate, un campo di grano, un centinaio di appassionati di design e l'emozione di vedere finalmente il nuovo catalogo Ikea.

Questo è in sintesi l'evento straordinario che Ikea Olanda ha accuratamente messo insieme per presentare i nuovi prodotti per il 2017. Ogni volta che partecipo a un evento Ikea, sono sempre sicura che non ne rimarrò delusa!

La nuova collezione PS {disponibile da marzo 2017} è quella che più delle altre ha attirato la mia attenzione: colori audaci, design funzionale e un approccio giovane e dinamico. Nella mia lista dei desideri c'è già la lampada gialla {solo 29 euro!} e il carrellino bianco.

E parliamo per un attimo della poltrona progettata dal duo olandese Truly Truly..una comodo, grande poltrona formata da 18 cuscini che si può costruire e modificare come si desidera.

Seguendo lo stesso percorso degli ultimi anni, l'attenzione è ancora focalizzata sul cucinare e mangiare insieme, vivere la cucina come cuore della casa.

Quindi, molta attenzione è dedicata al cibo che verrà presto introdotto in tutti i ristoranti Ikea {abbiamo anche provato il nuovo hamburger al salmone ed era delizioso!}. La piccola cucina compatta Sunnersta è la soluzione perfetta per un monolocale o se si dispone di uno spazio molto limitato.

Le collaborazioni con i grandi designer mi incuriosiscono molto. Ieri abbiamo avuto l'onore e il piacere di incontrare il designer olandese {che lavora qui ad Eindhoven!} Piet Hein Eek. Sono una grande fan del suo lavoro, quindi come una perfetta "groupie" gli ho chiesto di fare una foto insieme. La collezione si chiama Jassa e sarà disponibile nel 2017. Ha scelto il rattan come materiale principale e ha spiegato il processo creativo alla base di questa cooperazione, come ha usato le tecniche tradizionali per creare questi pezzi. La collaborazione continuerà nel 2018 con un'altra collezione chiamata INDUSTRIELL..non vedo l'ora!

Un'altra bella collezione limitata che sarà disponibile a breve è Sällskap, che è stata usata ieri per decorare le tavole e la tenda che ci proteggeva dalla pioggia. La tovaglia con i piccoli puntini di inchiostro mi ha ricordato il disegno che ho fatto l'anno scorso in occasione della presentazione del catalogo 2016. Bene, un altro pezzo nella mia lista dei desideri!

Vorrei concludere con un grande grazie a Ikea Olanda per il grande lavoro che hanno fatto. Nonostante il tempo ho sentito il calore e l'energia {e il cuore} che hanno messo in questo evento. Indimenticabile!
